A Creative Journey’s adult day program offers an alternative for adults with developmental disabilities to participate in a range of vocational functions, creative projects and classes that develop daily living skills. The goal is to work with not only the individual but to also include their family and those that support them in assisting them in reaching his or her potential.
The creation program develops talent in the areas of painting, drawing, writing, jewelry making and sewing projects. The individuals will also be doing some indoor/outdoor container gardening, photography and blogging.
Community time consists of trips to the library, shopping, museums, etc. Trips planned are based on interest, location and weather.
Our goal is for individuals to learn skills that benefit them at home, work and in the community. Health eating, exercise, pedestrian rules and computer usage are skills that will help promote independence.
A Creative Journey’s day program will remain open for our regular schedule; however, please know that certain weather conditions, such as snow, ice, heavy winds or severe thunderstorms may make it impossible for us to operate on the usual schedule.
We will attempt to follow the recommended guidelines for winter weather but the safety of our clients and staff will be taken into consideration first when making these decisions. Listed below is our current guidelines for winter weather:
• Level 1 Snow Emergency – We will remain open and offer transportation.
• Level 2 Snow Emergency – We will remain open but there will be no transportation.
• Level 3 Snow Emergency – A Creative Journey will be closed.
We will notify each family via phone call or text message regarding any schedule changes as well as post them on our home page.
